9/11 service set for Monday
Individuals from Chadron and the surrounding community are being encouraged to join a service for the 9/11 anniversary at the Chadron State College campus Monday, Sept. 12. The memorial service honoring those killed in terrorist attacks Sept. 11, 2001, will occur at the new flag plaza on the Dean’s Green at 11 a.m.
“We want this event to be a true community event, with not only members of the CSC community, but the larger community as well,” said Sarah Polak, director of the Sandoz Center at CSC. “This is an event that affected us all, regardless of where we live.”
The service will include the raising and lowering of the U.S. flag to half-staff, remarks from 1st Lt. Franklin Annis of Chadron and a tribute to the 55 Nebraskans who have fallen during the war on terror. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 12 will provide refreshments at the Sandoz Center after the event.
More information may be obtained by contacting Annis at 308-432-6027 or Polak at 308-432-6401.
