'Tunes at Twilight' to light up nights at Sandoz Center

Published:

The Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center at Chadron State College will provide three nights of free entertainment this summer with “Tunes at Twilight,” a new outdoor music series open to the public.

Members of the CSC music faculty are scheduled to open the series with a performance Thursday, June 24. The other two concerts, July 6 and Aug. 12, will feature a group comprised of faculty members, the CSC Professors of Jazz. Each show begins at 6 p.m. at the west side of the Sandoz Center.

The July concert is being produced as part of the Sandoz Center’s programming for Chadron’s 125th anniversary celebration.

Sarah Polak, Sandoz Center director, said she hopes the series will be the first of many summer music concerts on campus.

“We have been thinking about an outdoor music series for a couple of years. I think this will be a great way to enjoy an evening with friends, family, neighbors, and wonderful music,” she said.

People are encouraged to bring food, family, lawn chairs and blankets to the events.

“With a busy teaching schedule, it’s great when our music faculty can focus on making music,” said Dr. Michael Stephens, CSC music faculty member. “This concert series will help us share our love of music with the community in a fun and relaxing setting.”

The Sandoz Center will extend its hours to 6 p.m. on concert nights. Concerts will be in the Sandoz Center’s Chicoine Atrium in case of inclement weather.
