Theatre program sets production schedule

Published:

The Chadron State College theatre program has announced its production schedule for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Roger Mays, CSC director of theatre, said the schedule of shows was built with CSC's centennial celebration in mind, which begins this October and concludes in fall 2011, and contains something for a wide variety of audience members.
Kicking off the season Oct. 7-10 in the Memorial Hall Auditorium will be "The Last Night of Ballyhoo,"by Alfred Uhry. "Ballyhoo" also will be performed for visiting regional high schools for the program’s Theatre Day on Oct. 7. The other two campus productions will occur in the spring, with Paula Vogel "How I Learned to Drive" Feb. 10-13 and Oscar Wilde "The Importance of Being Earnest" April 14-17. The first and final shows are being billed as suitable for "the whole family," while the second is for "mature audiences only" Mays described "The Importance of Being Earnest," which was written in 1895, as the "perfect family play for CSC's centennial."
In addition to the three shows in Memorial Hall, the theatre program will tour to area schools in November and December with a production of "Ounce, Dice, Trice." The production is part of an annual program sponsored by the Chadron Library Foundation.
