Series to highlight experiences of science faculty, students
Faculty and students of the Chadron State College Physical and Life Sciences Department will tell about their science and medical service in other countries during “Science Abroad,” a new series of presentations open to the public free of charge.
Dr. Ann Buchmann who will open the series Thursday, Sept. 9, with “Stealth, Speed, and Support: Strategies of Predators and Prey in East Africa,” a presentation about her experiences in Tanzania. It will be 5-6 p.m. in room 144 of the Math and Science Building.
On Thursday, Sept. 23, Dr. Twila Fickel will present “After the Earthquake: Treating Patients in Haiti,” describing her experiences in Haiti after last year’s devastating earthquake.
Future talks will feature students Jacob Zitterkopf of Scottsbluff and Ashley Maxon of Laurel, who will speak about their summer experiences in working in health care in Argentina, and Dr. Joyce Hardy who will speak about her time in Malta.
