Senior art show features work of five students

The work of five Chadron State College students will be on display for "The World Premiere," the fall 2010 senior art show.

The artwork of graduating Chadron State College students Trey White, Lacey Roberts, Erika Schneider, Wendy Wilson and Michaela Schurman will be on display for the fall 2010 senior show, “The World Premiere.”

The show, which is on display in the main gallery of Memorial Hall from Monday, Nov. 29, through Friday, Dec. 10, features a diverse range of art forms such as photography, ceramics, stained glass, watercolor, printmaking, and painting. A reception for the artists will be Friday, Dec. 3, from 4-6 p.m. in Memorial Hall.

White, a native of Mullen, is graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in art K-12 education. He will exhibit work in stained glass, watercolor, acrylic, ceramics, and sculpture. He said his images are inspired by the things he tends to know best — wildlife, horses, the great outdoors and the cowboy life.

Roberts, originally from New Underwood, S.D., is graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in art/graphic design with a minor in business. Her work consists of ceramics, painting, photography, printmaking, graphite drawing, graphic design, and glass. She credits the outdoors and “the beauty of things we all tend to overlook” for her inspiration.

Originally from Utah, Erika Schneider grew up in southwestern Colorado and credits her immersion in the outdoors and her faith as inspiration in her work. She focuses mainly on graphic design and photography and will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in graphic design,

Wilson, a native of Stockville who graduated from Maywood High School, has produced work ranging from graphite drawing, to watercolor painting, to stained glass windows. She said her greatest inspirations are her Nebraska surroundings and her love of the western lifestyle.

Schurman, a graduate of Wilcox-Hildreth High School who now resides in Republican City, is graduating in the spring with a Bachelor of Arts with a comprehensive in Art/Graphic Design option. She is showing two-dimensional work in stained glass, watercolor and graphic design. She said her family members inspire her work.

The show is open to the public free of charge. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
