Post Playhouse unveils online ticket sales

Published:

The Post Playhouse at Fort Robinson State Park is offering online ticket sales for its summer 2011 schedule, which has been expanded to meet demand.

Tom Ossowski, the playhouse’s artistic director, expects the online ticket sales to be a popular feature, especially considering buyers may choose their exact seat during the process. He said the process was implemented as early as possible to accommodate holiday shoppers.

The expanded production schedule includes five musicals that will feature songs of classic genres, including country and western, the 1950s and ‘60s, and Broadway. Ossowski expects much laughter to again accompany the musicals this season.

“We are doing our best to keep up with the demand of great theatre in western Nebraska,” Ossowski said. “We will be producing five musicals in the 2011 season. And because we are often performing to sold-out houses, we are adding more matinees on Wednesdays and Saturdays, in addition to our regular Sunday matinee.”

This season’s shows will include the musical biography “Hank Williams: Lost Highway,” the goofy revue “Forever Plaid,” “A Broadway Cabaret,” the 1958 prom tale “The Marvelous Wonderettes,” and, for the second consecutive year, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.”

In addition, the Bald Mountain Rounders of Chadron will take the playhouse stage with their bluegrass style of music Saturday, May 28, as part of the playhouse’s opening Memorial Day Weekend. Shows will run on a repertory basis through Aug. 14.

In addition to ticket purchases, more information about each of the plays and the production schedule may be found at the Post Playhouse website, www.postplayhouse.com.

The Playhouse, which is entering its 44th year of operation at Fort Robinson, is sponsored by Chadron State College, the Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
