Post Playhouse awarded grant
The Post Playhouse at Fort Robinson State Park has been awarded a $360 grant by the Nebraska Arts Council. The grant will support the playhouse's Memorial Day weekend entertainment.
Nebraska Arts Council Executive Director Suzanne Wise commended the Post Playhouse for its programs.
"The Post Playhouse does an outstanding job of providing arts activities in northwest Nebraska," she said. "It is through fine organizations like this that Nebraska's children receive a better education in the arts, and the quality of life is improved for all Nebraskans."
The Post Playhouse's Memorial Day weekend will showcase regional bluegrass favorite, the Bald Mountain Rounders. In addition, the weekend will feature the opening of "Pump Boys and Dinettes," one of four productions scheduled on a reportory basis this summer. Other shows include "The Wizard of Oz," "Nunsense," and "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." More information about the theatre, which is largely sponsored by Chadron State College, may be found at www.postplayhouse.com.
The Nebraska Arts Council grants monetary resources to Nebraska's nonprofit organizations for arts projects and programs in communities throughout the state. This financial support is made possible by funds appropriated by the Nebraska Legislature, through competitive grants from the National Endowment of the Arts, a federal agency, and funds from the National Cultural Endowment.
