Visitors to the Main Gallery of Chadron State College’s Memorial Hall are getting mixed messages.

That’s because the exhibit “Messaging: Text and Visual Art” is one of two exhibits on display at Memorial Hall until Sept. 17.

The show, which is part of the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery’s traveling exhibit, consists of prints, photographs and multimedia that explore the function of messaging and the use of text in art. It includes the work of Marcel Duchamp, Barbara Kruger, Walter Robinson and Carrie Mae Weems.

In addition, a photography exhibit by Russ Finch of Alliance is on display in Gallery 239 of Memorial Hall. The show features colorful scenes of the region.

The Memorial Hall galleries are open to the public free of charge. A total of 16 exhibits are scheduled for the Gallery Series this academic year. Chadron State and its Art Department annually organize Memorial Hall’s Gallery Series with art from professional artists from around the nation and student artists. Many of the art exhibits in the Gallery Series are part of the larger cultural events program on campus, the Galaxy Series.

The Memorial Hall galleries are open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
