Kimball, Scottsbluff among leaders at District FFA Contests

Entries from Kimball and Scottsbluff won several of the top honors Wednesday during the District 12 Future Farmers of America competition hosted by Chadron State College.

Teams from Kimball won the top purple in both Junior and Senior Parliamentary Procedure contests with Scottsbluff winning the second place purple in both events. The two top purple ribbon winners in each district competition are eligible for the state contests next spring.

A Scottsbluff entry made up of Brayden Auer and Morgan Yost won the top purple in the Ag Demonstration contest. A Sioux County High School team placed second.

Purple ribbon winners from Kimball in individual events were Courtney Hunsaker in Creed Speaking and Kasee Copeland in Natural Resources Speaking.

Scottsbluff students who won purples were Charity Burkey in Cooperative Speaking, Curtis Welsh in Junior Public Speaking and Jessica Wolf in Natural Resources Speaking

The purple ribbon winners also included sisters Brittney and Shelby Andersen of Alliance, who placed one-two in Extemporaneous Speaking.

Others winning purples, by school, were: Cody-Kilgore—Haley Gunnink, Cooperative Speaking, Jais Ford, Senior Public Speaking; Garden County—Aubriel Jones, Job Interview; Gordon-Rushville—Jera Fitzgerald, Senior Public Speaking; Morrill—Haleigh Pike, Creed Speaking; Sioux County—Terra Lane, Public Speaking; and South Platte—Pam Radke, Job Interview.
