The top eight vote-getters for Chadron State College’s homecoming royalty competition were revealed during the spirit rally in the Student Center on Thursday, but people will have to wait until Saturday to know their order of finish.

The finalists for the queen competition are Morgan Allberry of North Platte, Chrissy Black of Newton, Kan., Jazzlynn Seumalo of Bremerton, Wash., and Micaela VanSkiver of Nelson.

Leading the race for king are Cory Beran of Sargent, Lanar Newman of Kingston, Jamaica, Alex Rodriguez of Carolina, Puerto Rico, and Eric VanBoening of North Platte.

The king, queen and their attendants will be revealed at halftime of the Eagles’ football game against Western New Mexico University on Saturday. The game kicks off at 1:30 p.m. at Elliott Field.

The royalty competition attracted 59 candidates -- 32 women and 27 men – who were nominated by their respective clubs and organizations. Laure Sinn, CSC coordinator of student activities, said 651 people voted for the contestants, a record turnout for recent years.

The winners of the annual bed sheet decorating contest also were announced during the spirit rally. The CSC chapter of Music Teachers National Association took the award for spirit, the Wildlife Club for originality and the Sigma Tau Delta English honor society for humor.
