Holiday concert set for Saturday
The Chadron State College Music Department will present a wide array of holiday favorites Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Student Center ballroom at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature more than 100 students, with performances by the Wind Symphony, Concert Choir, Men’s Ensemble and the Arioso women’s choir.
Among the highlights will be the Wind Symphony's performances of Christmas classics such as “Greensleeves,” “Coventry Carol,” “Carol of the Bells” and “Sleigh Ride.”
Christina Schultz, a CSC music education student from Torrington, Wyo., will guest conduct the Wind Symphony in its performance of Mannheim Steamroller’s arrangement of “Stille Nacht,” or, as it’s known in English, “Silent Night.”
The CSC Brass Ensemble will join the Concert Choir for a special musical number. Also, Arioso, the women’s choir, will sing a modern spiritual called “The Little Cradle Rocks”, and the folk number “Christmas is Coming” and the Celtic song “Apple-Tree Wassail.”
The concert is open to the public free of charge.
