Eleven high school students were given special recognition during the High Plains Band and Choir Festival at Chadron State College earlier this month.

JaCee Pilkington of Bayard and Jonah Moore of Sidney were honored for being selected to the event all four years of high school. Pilkington was selected to the choir and Moore was selected to band.

The other nine students were recognized for three years of participation. In choir, they are Shelbie Rose of Byard, Ty Hebbert and Elizabeth Moore of Gering, Derek Phelps of Sidney, and Dalton Latham of Upton, Wyo.

The three-year band participants are Tessa Jacobsen of Ainsworth, Taylor Liptack and Jess Watson of Alliance, and Melody Goff of Crawford.

The festival, which was Feb. 1-2, featured 270 students who were selected from audition tapes during the fall. The festival’s four music groups were comprised of students from 26 high schools in three states.
