Events set for International Education Week

Published:

Chadron State College will celebrate International Education Week with a series of events open to the public.

Iuliia Protopop, co-sponsor of the CSC International Club, said the events will embrace the uniqueness of nations, share rich cultures and improve global awareness on the CSC campus and the rest of the Chadron community.

Three of the events will be in the Student Center. The series begins with the Kickoff Dance and Quiz Ball on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 9 p.m. The international students will model for a fashion show Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m., and CSC international alumni who live in Chadron will be featured during the “Looking Back and Into the Future” event Thursday, Nov. 18.

The closing event will be at the Bean Broker coffee shop in downtown Chadron as part of Open Mic Night on Friday, Nov. 19, at 8 p.m.

In addition to the public activities, about 55 area elementary students are scheduled to visit the campus Tuesday, Nov. 16, for cultural exercises hosted by the International Club.

International Education Week, which is Nov. 15-19, is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of State to celebrate and promote the importance and benefits of international education in the United States and around the world.

Note: The original version of this story included a different date for the fashion show. The International Club changed the date because of scheduling conflicts.
