Events set for high school artists, musicians

High school students will converge on Chadron State College’s Memorial Hall for two workshop events in the coming week.

The CSC Jazz Workshop will be Thursday, Nov. 4, while Art Day will be Monday, Nov. 8. Both events begin at 9 a.m.

About 80 student musicians have registered for the jazz workshop, which will feature instruction on a wide array of jazz techniques from the CSC music department. High schools registered for the event are Chadron, Crawford, Gering, Sidney and Chase County at Imperial.

More than 100 high school art students are expected to attend the multi-session, hands-on art workshop. CSC art students will be assisting instructors giving workshops in ceramics, glass, drawing, pastel printmaking, photography, and graphic design.

The Nebraska schools of Alliance, Bridgeport, Chadron, Gordon-Rushville, Hemingford, Kimball, Morrill, Sioux County plan to attend Art Day, as well as Douglas and Oelrichs of South Dakota.
