Community groups combining for concert
For the first time since 2005, Chadron State College’s two community music groups will combine for a concert this weekend. Both the Chadron Community Chorus and the Chadron Community Symphonic Band will play the Chadron Arts Center on Sunday at 3 p.m.
Dr. Adam Lambert, who became conductor of the band this fall, said old favorites will be played, including John Philip Sousa’s “Thunderer March” and an arrangement of the English hymn “All Creatures of Our God and King.”
The choir performance, under the direction of Dr. Una Taylor, will include arrangements of “Buffalo Gals,” a spoof on “Old MacDonald” titled “Old Horatius Had a Farm,” and “The Rose of Sharon.”
Arioso, the CSC women’s choir, will sell baked goods at the concert to raise money for their spring 2011 trip to Europe.
The concert is open to the public free of charge.
