Chess tournament set for March 20
The 28th annual Chadron State College Chess Open will be Saturday, March 20, at 10 a.m. at CSC's Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center.
The $8 tournament fee covers the cost of six trophies and refreshments. The tournament is open to all. Tournament organizer Ron Miller said each player will play four games. Games in the first three rounds have a 90-minute limit and games in the final round a two-hour limit.
Rounds begin at 10:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3:45 p.m., unless moved up by consensus of players if an earlier round finishes early. Participants pay the tournament fee at the time of the tournament and should bring standard chess pieces and a board, and a chess clock if possible.
The CSC Chess Open is sponsored by the Northwest Nebraska Gamesters Association, a Chadron State College student, faculty and alumni club. For more information, contact Miller at rjmllr46@yahoo.com or 308-432-2384, or Brad Wilburn at bwilburn@csc.edu.
