Chadron State fall campaign tops $200k
The Chadron State Foundation raised $200,247 during the volunteer portion of its annual fundraising campaign, an increase of more than $10,000 from the previous year.
The amount, which was raised Oct. 13-29, was announced during the foundation’s “victory party” on Tuesday, Nov. 30.
Karen Pope, Chadron State director of alumni and annual giving, said the generosity of donors will pay great dividends in the future of Chadron State College and its students, and, in turn benefits the entire community. She also said it provides a base for fundraising efforts throughout the upcoming year.
“Many returning donors increased their gifts and many donated for the first time,” Pope said. “Their donations will help students with scholarships and provide other campus support.”
The foundation annually recruits the help of 124 volunteers, which are divided into 10 teams of college employees and 10 teams of community members. The volunteers are assigned contacts to request donations.
Prizes are awarded to the top teams based on a point system. This year’s winners from the community side were Lynn Mathis, Amy Halverson, Cy Hartman, Rita Horse, Stephanie Orton and Matt Reeves. On the campus side, it was Janet Hartman, Danielle Hencey, Deena Kennell, Tamsyn Carey, Terri Haynes and Michele Rickenbach.
This year’s four volunteer campaign leaders served as emcees of the party. They are Jon Daniels of Gregory’s Insurance, Janice German of Dawes County Abstract, Dr. Margaret Crouse, CSC dean, and Brad Smith, CSC athletic director.
