Una Taylor recital is Oct. 24
Dr. Una Taylor, Chadron State College assistant professor of music, will present a vocal recital of French songs from the 19th and 20th centuries. The recital, which is open to the public free of charge, will be Saturday, Oct. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Sandoz Center.
Taylor, whose doctoral dissertation was about 19th century French song, said the selections in the program are representative of some of the influences on the development of French music during the 1800s and into the 1900s.
Dr. Jim Margetts will provide piano accompaniment for the concert. One of the pieces, which is by Cecile Chaminade, is composed for soprano, piano and flute. Flutist Lauren Stephens of Chadron, who is an adjunct member of the CSC music faculty, will join Taylor on the selection.
Taylor also will sing music composed by Debussy, Faure, Chabrier, Liszt, Bizet, Chaminade, Hahn, Lalo and Delibes.
