Una Taylor, Chadron State College assistant professor of music, is again seeking children in second grade through sixth grade to participate in the TrebleMakers music group.

The group meets Thursday afternoons 4-5 p.m. in room 104 of CSC's Memorial Hall. Class will meet for 11 weeks each semester, from Sept. 10 through Nov. 19, and Jan. 19 through April 15.

Taylor said the TrebleMakers, which began last year, is designed to offer a fun and educational musical experience for children in the elementary grades.

“My goal is to develop music literacy in a more playful manner, rather than emphasizing performance,” she said. “I am hoping this will make our time making music together much more fun as well as educational.”

In lieu of a scheduled formal performance, the Treblemakers will perform informally for family and friends for a potluck dinner or just "meet for treats" in order to provide an opportunity for families to hear what the Treblemakers are doing and perhaps share in some of the singing games with the children, she said.

The participation fee is $40 per semester, but interested children may attend the first meeting, Sept. 10, without obligation. More information and registration materials are available by contacting either Taylor at 308-432-6484 utaylor@csc.edu or Judy Rutter at 308-432-6375 jrutter@csc.edu.
