Thirty-nine Chadron State College students who have been studying science have been accepted to professional schools beginning this fall. The students were given recognition during the annual Health Professions Honors Banquet at the Country Kitchen Restaurant on Thursday.

Seventeen of the students are participating in the Rural Health Opportunities Program, a joint venture with the University of Nebraska Medical Center that is designed to provide health care professionals for lesser-populated areas of Nebraska.

Bobby Griese, a CSC graduate who is a physical therapist at Chadron Community Hospital, was the featured speaker at the banquet. He encouraged the students to embrace their small-town background, whether it be from their hometowns or just their time in Chadron.
