ReTree Nebraska planting scheduled near Old Admin
Chadron State College will participate in the ReTree Nebraska project later this week. As part of the effort, CSC will plant a shade tree Thursday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. in the newly paved parking lot south of Old Admin.
Dr. George Griffith, CSC professor of English, has been selected to be CSC’s representative tree planter because of his support for campus planting projects and his interest in landscaping near the newly renovated building.
ReTree Nebraska is a 10-year cooperative initiative to raise public awareness of the value of trees, reverse the decline of Nebraska's community tree and forest resources and improve the health and sustainability of community trees and forests across the state for future generations. This year’s ReTree Nebraska Week is Sept. 19-26.
The primary goal of ReTree Nebraska is to work in partnership with people across Nebraska to foster the proper planting and maintenance of 1 million new trees by 2017. The planting Thursday will add to the thousands of other trees that have been planted at CSC during the past year.
