Five Chadron State College students have parts in the CSC Theatre Program’s production of “Rabbit Hole,” a domestic tragic drama that centers on the accidental killing of a small child.

“Rabbit Hole,” which was written in 2006 by David Lindsay-Abaire and won the Pulitzier Prize for Drama in 2007, will be Nov. 19-22 in Memorial Hall, with performances at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

The play is suitable for mature audiences only and will be performed in the intimate setting of Memorial Hall’s Black Box Theatre.

Roger Mays, CSC director of theatre, describes the production as “a tale of love, loss, hilarity, fear and hope.”

Lindsay-Abaire told reporters that he followed the advice of one of a former mentor and teacher in authoring the play. The teacher advised students to “write about what you fear most” in order to pen a successful play. Lindsay-Abaire wrote “Rabbit Hole” shortly after the birth of his first child.

The cast of “Rabbit Hole” consists of Travis Beguin of Rushville as Jason, Rhett Breedlove of Torrington, Wyo., as Howie, Katie Curtis of Rapid City as Izzy, Angela Heesacker of Hay Springs as Becca, and Adina Olsen of Sidney as Nat.

The play is the program’s second production of the 2009-2010 season. To watch Mays and the actors tell about “Rabbit Hole,” visit www.csc.edu/vpa/theatre/scene.csc.
