Joint band concert is Saturday

The Chadron State College Wind Symphony and Chadron Community Symphonic Band will combine for a concert that features outstanding music by more than a half-dozen composers this weekend. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will be Saturday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall.

The concert will feature music by composers John Williams, Gustav Holst, Joseph Haydn, James Curnow and Claude T. Smith.

Highlights will include student soloists and conductors, including Conrad Gachne of Gering as trumpet soloist on the "Haydn Trumpet Concerto" and Katie Ringleman of Imperial as guest student conductor on "In Heavens Air" by Samuel R. Hazo. Another outstanding student guest conductor will be announced at the concert and will conduct Holst's "First Sutie in Eb."
