Ivy Day is Friday
Chadron State College’s annual Ivy Day will be at 7 p.m. Friday, May 8 in Memorial Hall. It will be open to the public.
The colorful ceremony dates back to 1920 and honors the college’s outstanding senior scholars in each academic area.
Highlights also will include crowning a king and a queen. The royalty candidates were nominated from among the members of Cardinal Key and Blue Key National Honor Societies.
The queen candidates are Ashley Krause of Big Springs, Sara Pilakowski of Genoa, Erin Ridder of Callaway, Brittany Schultz of Scottsbluff and Rachel Wickman of Eli. The king candidates are Chance Galey and Danial Hanlon, both of Crawford, Tyler Lebsock of Yuma, Colo., Kyle Schmidt of Gordon and Nathan Stec of Valentine.
Schmidt also will be the Ivy Day orator representing Blue Key. Cardinal Key’s orator will be Melissa Johnson of Sidney.
The faculty greeter will be Dr. Clark Gardener, who is retiring this summer after serving 19 years as a Chadron State education professor.
