Homecoming features array of activity

Chadron State College will celebrate its homecoming to the theme of “Greek Gods and Goddesses” this week.

A wide array of activity will take place Wedneday through Saturday, Sept. 30-Oct. 3.

Finalists of the 59 royalty candidates will be revealed during the spirit rally and bonfire at 7 p.m. Thursday. The king and queen will be announced at halftime of the Eagles’ football game against New Mexico Highlands University on Saturday. Kickoff for the game is 1:30 p.m. In volleyball action, the Eagles will take on Adams State on Thursday, Western State on Friday and Colorado State University-Pueblo on Saturday. Each match begins at 7 p.m. in Armstrong Gym.

Other Saturday highlights will be the parade down Main Street at 9:30 a.m. and the Eagle 5k Run/Walk at 8 a.m.

Many student activities are scheduled this week, including the traditional lighting of C Hill beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Students also will participate in a bedsheet decorating contest and the homecoming dance Saturday night.

A luncheon at 11 a.m. Saturday will honor alumni award recipients and inductions to the Athletic Hall of Fame. In addition, CSC President Janie Park and Athletic Director Brad Smith will speak during a luncheon Friday. Each of those two events requires reservations from the Alumni Office at 308-432-6366.

Among the many alumni planning to return to campus this weekend are those who worked on the staff of the student newspaper, the Eagle. The group plans to tour the new newspaper office in Old Admin and attend a dinner Saturday night. More information about the reunion and other activities for alumni may be obtained by contacting the Alumni Office.
