High school students attend music camp
The Chadron State College Music Department concluded its four-day high school summer music camp with a performance at the Chicoine Atrium of the Sandoz Center on Saturday, July 25.
Students from the region arrived on campus Wednesday, July 22, and participated in workshops and rehearsals throughout the rest of the week. Topics included aural development, practice techniques, movement and music, improvisation and performance etiquette. The final performance included works by Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and Herbie Hancock, among others.
"We were thrilled with the effort, enthusiasm, and talent that these young people brought each day,” said Dr. Michael Stephens, a CSC professor who served as one of the event’s clinicians. “We enjoyed having such a dedicated group for our first time hosting such an event. We hope we can build on our successes this year and broaden our involvement for next summer."
