CSC Student Art Shows Now Showing
Two exhibits featuring CSC art students are showing in Memorial Hall's two galleries. The Senior Thesis Student Art show in the Main Gallery is the work of three senior art students who are graduating, Anna Higgins, Emily Hudson and Travis Hencey.
Anna Higgins of Deaver, Wyoming is graduating with a Bachelor of Arts with a comprehensive major in art/art studio option. Her exhibited 2-D work includes portraits and landscapes in watercolor, oil and charcoal.
Emily Hudson, a native of Benkelman, Nebraska, will be graduating in May with a Bachelor of Science in Art K-12 Education. She will be exhibiting 2-D and 3-D work that includes oil paintings, prints, and pottery.
Travis Hencey of Chadron will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts with a comprehensive major in art/art studio and a minor in humanities. His work is a union of drawing, painting, and sculpture and shows an influence from Eastern styles.
An artist's reception will take place Wednesday, December 2nd from 4 to 6pm. Gallery hours are 9 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday.
The second student art show is in Gallery 239, Memorial Hall 2nd floor and is the work of 9 advanced art studio students;Pat Moss, Lacy Klein, Ashley Goff, Anna Higgins, Susi Schaefer, Brandon Allen, Ashley Johnson, Chance Whelchel and Rehena Drummond. The work demonstrates advanced study in the mediums of ceramics, glass, printmaking, painting, and graphic design. Both shows run Monday, Nov. 30 through Friday, Dec. 11.
Also happening is the annual Art Guild Christmas Sale, Tues., Dec. 2 - Thurs., Dec. 3, 2009 with a variety of arts and crafts for sale. It takes place in the Ponderosa Room of the Student Center. Proceeds help fund the annual art student trip to visit museums, galleries, and design/ad firms.
