Children joining Omaha Symphony for concert
Area elementary school students will be part of the act when the Omaha Symphony comes to Chadron State College's Memorial Hall on Thursday, March 5. The Omaha Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ernest Richardson, will perform at 7 p.m.
Earlier that afternoon, more than 250 students from schools in Dawes and Sheridan counties, will join the Omaha Symphony to present a concert for their parents. The children, who are in fourth through sixth grades, also will join the orchestra for select pieces during the 7 p.m. concert. They have been practicing songs on their recorders this semester.
The Omaha Symphony is visiting Chadron as part of the LinkUP tour, which was designed to bring "the power of live orchestral music" to communities in rural Nebraska and encourage music partnerships at those locations. The collaboration was developed by Carnegie Hall and the Omaha Symphony.
The Omaha Symphony's appearance in Chadron is part of CSC's Galaxy Series. The project is supported in part by the Nebraska Arts Council and the Peter Kiewit Foundation.
