Two students from central Nebraska were crowned royalty during Chadron State College's annual Winter Magic Formal on Valentine's Day.

Erin Ridder of Callaway is the queen and Matt Morrison of Bassett is king.

Runners up for the women, in order of finish, are Melat Selashi of Ethiopia, Lauren Hess of North Platte and Erin Hanson of Alliance. Rounding out the voting for the men, in order, were Kyle Schmidt of Gordon, Barrett Hahn of Aurora and Todd Strasburger of Gordon.

The royalty was announced during a dance in the Student Center which followed a formal dinner. The annual activity is sponsored by The Alternative Student Choice, or TASC Force. The group promotes lifestyles that are free of recreational drug and alcohol abuse.

Morrison and Ridder topped a field of more than three dozen candidates who were nominated by CSC clubs and organizations. The winners were selected by a vote of the student body.
