Beautiful Child' opens this week

Nicky Silver's "Beautiful Child," a drama about a family facing difficult issues, will open in the Black Box Theatre of Chadron State College's Memorial Hall this week. The theatre department is billing the play as Rated R and suitable for only mature audiences.

Show times for the production are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday.

"Beautiful Child," which premiered in 2004, focuses on a man in his 30s who reveals to his parents that he has fallen in love with one of his students -- an 8-year-old boy.

Five students have roles in the production, which is being directed by Scott Cavin. The student actors are Brad Buckles, Cheyenne, Wyo.; Angela Isabell, Scottsbluff; Amber Nightingale, Morrill; Caitlin Parker, Rock Springs, Wyo.; and Mason Quinn, Cheyenne, Wyo. Shelby Wilson of Benkleman is serving as the costume designer and Clint Wright of Oshkosh designed the set.
