Ascetic lifestyle is next lecture series topic
The Graves Lecture Series at Chadron State College will resume Tuesday, Jan. 27, with a presentation by George Ledbetter, publisher of the Chadron Record. The presentation will be in room 108 of the Reta King Library at 7 p.m.
Ledbetter will present "Babaji: Life with the Ascetics of India." Ascetics are people who renounce material comforts to lead a life of austere self-discipline. Ledbetter will tell about his experiences with the ascetics he encountered during extensive visits to India between 1972 and 1989.
Following is the complete schedule of speakers. Each presentation begins at 7 p.m. and is in room 108 of the Reta King Library unless otherwise noted. The presentations are open to the public free of charge and refreshments are served.

March 17, Jennifer Balmat, Chadron: "Between a Rock and a Hard Spot: A Geologist's Journey through the Hazards in Northwest Nebraska."
March 31, Lee Miller, Chadron: "Chatting with Mikhail Bakhtin about Rhetoric's History"
April 7, Stew Magnuson, Arlington, Va.: "The American Indian Movement and its Legacy in the Nebraska Border Towns." Magnuson's presentation will be in the Bourdeux/Lakota Room of the Student Center.
