Apollo 13 astronaut to speak

Those who attend Chadron State College's first Galaxy Series presentation of the spring semester will learn about space travel and aeronautics from the lunar module pilot of 1970's Apollo 13 mission.

Astronaut Fred Haise will speak in Memorial Hall on Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 7:30 p.m.

Haise was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and has 20 years of experience working with NASA. He has logged more than 9,000 hours of flying time in dozens of aircraft types. He served on backup crews for several Apollo missions and was involved in the 1973 film "Tora! Tora! Tora!"
