5k has Thanksgiving theme

The Chadron State College HPER Club and Chadron Community Recreation will sponsor a 5k walk/run on Saturday, Nov. 21. The Frozen Turkey Trot is open to the public and cost for entrance is $15.

All proceeds from the race go to assisting club majors with fund-raising for conferences, national conventions and a trip to Colorado Springs to visit the Olympic Training Center. The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. Prizes and turkeys will be given away. Register by Nov. 13 to be guaranteed a t-shirt.

The HPER Club is a club for students majoring in the health, physical education and recreational fields of study. The intention of this organization is to bring Chadron State students together for the purpose of social and educational awareness in these fields of study. Students are also encouraged to join professional organizations such as the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and its state chapter, the Nebraska Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
