Three choral ensembles in concert Sunday

A concert at the Chadron Arts Center on Sunday, Nov. 16, will feature the singing of three ensembles, one of which is new and one which has a new name.

The Chadron Community Chorus, the TrebleMakers children's choir, and Arioso - the new name of the Chadron State College women's vocal ensemble - will combine for a concert at 3 p.m. in the Chadron Arts Center at Fourth and King streets. The event is open to the public free of charge.

Each group is directed by CSC assistant music professor Dr. Una Taylor.

The community chorus will sing a variety of literature including music from the Renaissance, contemporary choral music, and a spiritual. Two Chadron residents, Steve Welch and Jessica Blundell, will be featured as soloists. Laurie Norman of Chadron will accompany the choir.

Sunday marks the first performance for the TrebleMakers, the group that organized this fall and includes children in first through seventh grade. Songs they will sing include "Yonder Come Day," "Chatter With the Angels" and "Ladybug."

Arioso will join the community ensembles in opening the performance with a variety of repertoire and featuring three CSC students as soloists -- Denise Miller of Sutherland, Natalie Dunn of Valentine and Kelsey Kaitfors of Whitewood, S.D.
