Speaker to tell about Nebraska's Army posts
The next speaker in the Dorset Graves Lecture Series at Chadron State College will deliver a presentation titled "Army Posts in Nebraska."
Tom Buecker, curator of the Fort Robinson State Park Museum, will speak Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. in room 108 of the Reta King Library. The lecture is open to the public free of charge and refreshments will be served.
Buecker is following Dr. Laura Gaudet, Chadron State College professor of psychology, who spoke for the lecture series Tuesday, Oct. 14. Gaudet spoke about the consequences of brain injury for nearly an hour and a half, but said she barely scratched the surface about her topic.
She told about skills and behaviors linked to various regions of the brain, and how social skills, behavior and emotion are affected when those areas suffer damage. She cited scores of examples that she's encountered during her years of working in rehabilitation.
Gaudet, a certified traumatologist, is chairwoman of the CSC Department of Counseling, Psychology and Social Work. She is board certified as an expert in traumatic stress and forensic traumatology, and teaches courses in school counseling, community counseling and psychology at CSC.
