The members of Chapter 6, a professional a cappella ensemble from Illinois, will be the first performers to take the stage for Chadron State College's Galaxy Series of fine arts events and cultural activities this fall. The concert will be Thursday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m. in Memorial Hall.

Tickets for the performance may be reserved by contacting the CSC box office at 432-6360 or boxoffice@csc.edu. They are free for CSC students and employees if reserved in advance.

Comprised of six vocalists and one arranger, Chapter 6 is the only vocal ensemble to win both The International Competition of Collegiate A Cappella and The National Harmony Sweepstakes. Among subsequent honors, Chapter 6 has appeared with The National Symphony Orchestra at The Kennedy Center, and was featured on "American Idol: Season 7," in conjunction with bandmate, Luke Menard.

Chapter 6 tours the United States, Canada and Asia, performing in a wide variety of venues. The group's publicity material describes their show as family-friendly with a blend of pop and jazz harmonies and tongue-in-cheek lyrics.

The group performs American popular music ranging from Gershwin to Stevie Wonder, and original songs ranging from comical to personal: "Lost in Canada" and "God's Love." In addition, their medleys are arranged to entertain music lovers of all ages, including their six-minute version of "The Wizard of Oz," which earned a Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award in 2005.

Emerging from a college course at Millikin University at Decatur, Ill., the a cappella ensemble won its first competition in 2000. When most of its members graduated from college the following year, the group entered the professional market in January 2002. Since then, Chapter 6 has received numerous awards for their technique, performance and original arrangements.

Chapter 6 boasts a wide range of appeal, having performed for audiences of three to 30,000. The group has performed in 41 states and has appeared on numerous television and radio programs, including Good Morning America on ABC and The Kathy & Judy Show on Chicago's WGN Radio.

Chapter 6 has four recordings. More information and free samples of the group's music are available at www.chapter6.com.
