'Reckless' opens this week

Thirteen students have been cast in the Chadron State College Theatre Department's production of "Reckless," which opens this week in the Black Box Theatre of Memorial Hall. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. The play is recommended for only "mature audiences" because of its content.

"Reckless" is a dark comedy that was written by American playwright Craig Lucas in 1983 and made into a movie in 1995. A New York Times reviewer compared it to "It's a Wonderful Life" and described it as a bittersweet Christmas fable.

The play is being directed by Roger Mays, head of the theatre department. The set and lighting was designed by faculty member Scott Cavin.

Erika DeBoer of Morrill plays the part of Rachel, the story's central figure.
