Kylee Stanley of Alliance and Brian Rochelle of Casper, Wyo., were the recipients of the Platinum Eagle Awards during Ivy Day at Chadron State College on Saturday. The Platinum Eagles are presented annually to one male and one female for “distinguished leadership and service.” A student-faculty committee makes the selections. The awards are considered the highest honor that a Chadron State student can receive.

Stanley was president of the Student Senate, Cardinal Key National Honor Society and the Political Science Club this past year. She also was vice president of Beta Beta Beta National Biology Honorary and was recognized at Ivy Day as a certified tutor through the College Reading and Learning Association. She is the daughter of Georgia Stanley.

Rochelle has been on the Student Senate and belonged to Blue Key National Honor Society, Beta Beta Beta and the Health Professions Club. His parents are Joe and DeAnn Rochelle.

Both recipients were human biology majors and graduated Summa Cum Laude, which requires a grade point average of at least 3.9 on the 4.0 scale. Both were attendants to the Ivy Day royalty and both were recognized as outstanding seniors majoring in biology.

Stanley will be pursuing a degree in medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha beginning this fall. Rochelle will be studying at UNMC’s College of Dentistry in Lincoln.

Other finalists for the Platinum Eagle Awards were Audra Liebig of North Platte, Brenda Petersen of Douglas, Wyo., Lea Wells of St. Paul, Alex Laudenklos of Monroe, Joel Repenning of Bloomfield and Tyler Thompson of Gering.
