PBL students rank high at national competition
Chadron State College’s chapter of Phi Beta Lambda had a strong showing at the National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Ga., June 21-24.
Two entries from Chadron State placed in the top 10 of the national student business organization’s final standings. The CSC students were accompanied by PBL sponsor Jamie Waldo, CSC assistant professor of business and economics.
Barrett Hahn of Aurora was eighth in the future business executive competition, which measured contestants’ job application skills.
Hahn, Brian Mecouch of Tabernacle, N.J., and Doug Liewer of Butte teamed up to take ninth place in the business decision making category.
Eight CSC students qualified for national competition at state earlier this year. In addition, Hahn was named the state chapter’s vice president of finance and Mecouch was selected vice president of technology.
Perrin Schmidt of Gordon qualified in economic analysis and decision making and also participated in the Atlanta trip.
Others who qualified at state but did not enter the national competition are Jessica Burke, Crawford, statistical analysis and business decision making; Nicole Hagan, Ogallala, economic analysis and business decision making; Audrey Roberts, Hot Springs, S.D., business decision making; and Tony Stabb, Crawford, computer concepts and information management.
