Chadron State College’s Musikgarten program, which helps children develop their musical talents, sang and danced its way into the spring semester with an open house at Memorial Hall on Tuesday.

Laura Empson, a CSC student from Chadron who serves as one of two Musikgarten teachers at the college, said the program will accept newcomers for the next several weeks. Enrollment is open to children from birth to age 9.

CSC’s Musikgarten program is affiliated with a national organization that specializes in early childhood music and movement.

The organizers of Musikgarten say the program not only helps children become prepared for later instrumental or vocal study, but also enhances their listening skills, language development, motor coordination, social skills and imaginations.

More information about the program may be obtained by contacting Empson at (308) 432-3550 or Marian Beutler at (308) 232-4560.
