When justice studies students of Chadron State College travel to London next May as they have done for more than 30 years, they will have company. CSC is expanding the program to include business, education, humanities and music students.

Three additional CSC faculty members joined the justice studies group in London in May of this year to observe the successful program established by Dr. George Watson, professor, and led by Dr. Tracy Nobiling, associate professor. They are Dr. Lorie Hunn, assistant professor of education, Dr. Barb Limbach, professor of business, and Dr. Deane Tucker, professor of English and humanities.

The three faculty members have worked with their colleagues to develop additional courses for the summer 2009 London study experience. Those instrumental in developing the courses are Dr. Don King, chairman of the education department, Dr. Jamie Waldo, associate professor of business and marketing, and Dr. Joel Schreuder, assistant professor of music.

Students of each discipline will begin their courses during the spring semester and travel to London in May 2009 as one group and take part in many cultural activities together. Separate activities designed for each branch of learning also are planned.

Steve Taylor, CSC assistant vice president for Extended Campus Programs, said the students will find that London is rich in art, history and the humanities, in addition to being one of the world's major centers of trade. He also said a study experience to London is relatively safe and easy.

"We've had a very successful program with justice studies and the logistics have been worked out over a long period of time," he said. "It's relatively easy for us to replicate that. London is a highly desirable place to study because of its access to the arts, entertainment, and culture."

In addition to trips such as the one to London, CSC offers study abroad programs in locations throughout the world.

Taylor encourages anyone interested in participating in one of the programs to attend information meetings planned for late September and early October, or to contact Carl Cousin, CSC student services counselor, who works in the study abroad office.
