Dr. Gary Moulton of Lincoln, who is widely recognized as an authority on the Lewis & Clark Expedition, will speak Tuesday, March 25, at Chadron State College. His presentation, “Lewis and Clark Among the Indians,” will be at 7 p.m. in the Student Center.

Moulton said his research interests are historical editing, the exploration of the American West, and American Indians. He has played a significant role in the creation of several historical publications, including serving as editor of the 13-volume edition of “The Journals of the Lewis & Clark Expedition.”

Moulton served as a consultant for Ken Burns’ 1997 film, “Lewis and Clark: The Journey of the Corps of Discovery,” and an advisor for National Geographic’s Lewis and Clark IMAX film. In 1998, he served as an advisor to the United States Mint on the design of the $1 Sacagawea coin. He has earned numerous awards for his efforts, including University of Nebraska’s Outstanding Research and Creativity Award in 2001.

Moulton’s presentation is an installment of the of CSC’s Dorset Graves Lecture Series. The series is presenting lectures about Lewis and Clark this spring to coincide with the “Lewis and Clark and the Indian Country” exhibit that is on display in the library through April 18.
