Inaugural Jazz Workshop is postponed

Published:

The first Jazz Workshop at Chadron State College was postponed because of the snowstorm that blanketed the region. It has been rescheduled to Thursday, Nov. 13.

Ninety-four students from seven high schools have registered for what organizers hope becomes an annual event.

Adam Lambert, CSC director of bands, said the music faculty is striving to improve on the region’s jazz culture with the workshop.

“We are offering this as an opportunity for high school students and teachers to improvise in the jazz idiom,” Lambert said. “This is also an opportunity for programs that don’t have a jazz program to get one started.”

Schools represented will be Chadron, Crawford, Hemingford, Sidney, Gering, Hyannis and Oelrichs, S.D.
