The cast and crew of the Post Playhouse at Fort Robinson State Park are looking to build on this year's success as they open the third and final show of the season next week. The first performance of “Guys and Dolls” will be Tuesday, July 15. Roger Mays, the playhouse’s director, said the play is often described as the perfect musical. He said the production “will equally delight audiences of all ages, providing some of the best fun of the Post Playhouse’s 2008 season.”

“Guys and Dolls” is a comical tale about a gambler who takes a bet that he can make a pure-at-heart missionary fall in love with him. Mays said the production is bolstered by the company’s “antic acting” and “angular set design.”

The cast includes Kate Beahen as Adelaide, Rob Gretta as Nathan Detroit, Don Denton as Sky Masterson, and Elizabeth Burton as the sweet Salvation Army member, Sarah Brown. Scott Cavin designed the set. Mays and Cavin are Chadron State College performance arts faculty members.

Mays said the playhouse has had record crowds this summer and has received rave reviews about its other two musicals, “Oklahoma” and “South Pacific.” Each of the three shows will continue on a rotating basis through Sunday, Aug. 17.
