'God of Hell' presented at CSC this week
The Chadron State College Theatre Department’s production of “The God of Hell,” a play about a Wisconsin farm couple who is visited by a former friend and an enigmatic government agent, will be in the Black Box Theatre of Memorial Hall this week. The play will be shown Thursday through Saturday, April 17-19, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 20, at 2 p.m.
“The God of Hell” was written in part as a response to the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. It was authored by American playwright Sam Shepard. Roger Mays, the production’s director, described the play as a hilarious, yet terrifying tale. He said it is intended for mature audiences only.
Four Chadron State College actors have parts in the production. The farm couple, Frank and Emma, will be portrayed by Mike Mamula of Box Elder, S.D., and Jen Beckstead of Havre, Mont. The government agent, Mr. Welch, will be played by Willis Miller of Deer Trail, Colo. Rhett Breedlove of Torrington, Wyo., has the part of Haynes, the friend of the farm couple who is the object of the agent’s visit.
Tickets for the production may be obtained by contacting the CSC box office 4-6 p.m. each weekday at (308) 432-6360. They also may be reserved by e-mailing boxoffice@csc.edu.
