Five alumni receiving honors

Chadron State College will honor five outstanding members of its alumni during homecoming festivities this weekend.

The three graduates who will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award are Loren Jacobsen, a retired medical doctor from Broken Bow, Jerry Messman, founder and director of an analytical metrology company in Fort Collins, Colo., and Ann Smith of Chadron, a retired CSC professor, coach and distinguished volunteer of the American Red Cross.

The two recipients of this year's Distinguished Young Alumni Award are lawyer Monica (Thomas) Colbath of Rapid City, S.D., and high school science teacher Sharla (Tollman) Dowding of Newcastle, Wyo.

The awards, along with inductions to the CSC Athletic Hall of Fame, will be presented during a luncheon in the Student Center prior to the Eagles' football game against the Colorado School of Mines on Saturday.
