CSC vacation program provides a 'Walk in Their Boots'

Published:

June brings the opportunity to learn about the Old West through a learning-based vacation designed by the staff of the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center and others at Chadron State College in northwest Nebraska.

The vacation program, Walk in their Boots: A Cowboy Life, takes place June 23-27.

The program has been designed for a family vacation, but also has been tailored to individuals and couples who want to experience many of the everyday experiences of a cowboy’s life.

The adventure takes place in and around Chadron, regarded by its residents and vacationers as a hidden treasure. Participants can experience the majestic beauty of ponderosa pine trees, spectacular sunrises and sunsets, rolling plains and the Sandhills.

Vacationers will be given the opportunity to ride horses, learn how to rope, drive team-pulled wagons, participate in a barn dance and experience Dutch oven cooking. In the evenings, they can enjoy a campfire, telling stories and listening to songs.
