CSC professor honored by child care association

Dr. Kim Madsen, director of the Chadron State College Child Development Center, received special recognition at the annual conference of the National Coalition of Campus Children’s Centers in Washington, D.C., March 5-8. She was honored for outstanding leadership as a director of campus child care.

Madsen’s honors included a review of her 25 years of service as a CSC faculty member and center director. Madsen’s nomination was submitted by members of the CDC advisory board, staff, parents and administration.

Madsen, who is a professor of family and consumer sciences at CSC, also was one of 15 presenters at the national conference. More than 75 participants from across the United States and Canada attended her session, which focused on sharing research findings from the early childhood laboratory. It was titled “What do I have to do to Earn a Child’s Respect? The Power of Positive Communication.”
