CSC confers degrees to 162 Friday

Bachelor's degrees were awarded to 120 of the candidates and the remaining 42 received master's degrees. The list includes 44 students who completed degree requirements during CSC's summer sessions.

The graduates represent the following states and nations: Nebraska 98, Wyoming 31, South Dakota 13, Colorado 4, California 2, Florida 2, South Carolina 2, New Mexico 2, Arizona 1, Iowa 1, Kansas 1, Maryland 1, Minnesota 1, West Virginia 1, Washington 1, Brazil 1.

The keynote speaker was retired pharmacist and longtime community leader Dick Myers of Chadron. In addition to his nearly four decades of pharmacy ownership, Myers has held leadership positions in many professional service organizations.

Melissa Ann Mitchell of Chadron, who is earning a Master of Arts in Education, and Abby Christian Gordon, a Bachelor of Arts degree recipient, presented the ceremony's "moments of reflection."

The CSC Brass Ensemble provided music for the ceremony and the presentation of colors was completed by the ROTC Color Guard. Others who had roles in the ceremony are Dr. Janie Park, CSC president, Larry Teahon, Nebraska State College System Board of Trustees member, and Dr. Lois Veath, CSC vice president for academic affairs.
