CSC childcare center chosen for nature learning project
The Chadron State College Child Development Center Laboratory has been selected by the Dimensions Educational Research Foundation-Arbor Day Foundation to be the site of a Nature Explore Classroom.
Dr. Kim Madsen, the center's director, said the project will help promote the love and joy of nature and outdoors for young children and families, and help them battle what she calls "nature deficit disorder."
A consultant and architect will be at the Burkhiser Complex to work with center staff Thursday, Oct. 2, to develop a concept plan for the project. The architect will present the plan to a group of parents, community partners, administrators and staff Friday, Oct. 3.
Madsen is inviting students, college personnel, student groups and community members to participate in the project. More information may be obtained by visiting the project's Web site, www.arborday.org/explore/, or by contacting Madsen at 308-432-6372 or kmadsen@csc.edu.
